The evaluation begins...

I finally got some free time to look her over today.  Stood around for a while wondering where to start.  As I was standing at the front of the trailer, it seemed like a logical place to begin.  Started by pulling the LP tanks off the tongue, as well as removing the old battery and battery box.  Rust on the tongue will need to be addressed, flexible gas lines replaced, and a new ring terminal is needed on the positive cable leading to the converter.  Other wires in the area go to an LP gas detector mounted near the furnace.

Removed the entry threshold and found floor rot at the edge.  I will be gutting the interior at a future date and will address at that time.

Removed the step for future cleanup.  Will need to address frame rust at step mount location.  Belly skins may come off at some point to completely treat the frame.  Not today though.

Finished the day testing the inverter (Newmark DCV 30).  My multimeter displays only 10 volts output without the battery in the circuit.  The converter output is pulse DC, so my multimeter must be showing an RMS value.  With the battery in the circuit (absorbing the pulse input and smoothing output), the output voltage of the converter was 13.5 volts.  With all 12 volt lights turned on in the interior, output voltage increased to over 14.2 volts.  The converter appears to be functioning properly, but output voltage with a load it a bit too high for my liking.  I really don't want to boil my deep cycles, so a new solid state converter/battery charger/maintainer may replace the old Newmark.

The water tank appears to be aluminum, original, and in good condition.  Anyone know how long these old tanks last?
