I visited A & N Trailer Parts today to determine the feasibility of bringing the old Hadco axles back to serviceability.  The folks at A & N seemed quite knowledgeable, and were willing to take the time to ensure I had enough information to make an educated decision about the axles.

The springs, shackles and equalizer are in good, serviceable condition for their age.  The axles are okay, but replacement rear axles hubs cost as much as a complete new axle assembly.  Also, parts cannot be sourced for the forward axle brakes.

I've decided that new axle assemblies are the most cost effective solution.  I don't want to go thru the effort of trying to locate NOS Hadco axles parts now or in the coming years.

The original Hadco axles have a 2 inch offset.  The new axles will be straight, affording a couple of extra inches of ground clearance.  This may be helpful for the upcoming gray tank installation.

The original springs, shackles and equalizers will be reused. All will get new bushings. All hardware will be replaced with new.
