First fasteners installed in the subfloor.

---------------------------------------------------

The most forward section is used as the initial index point for the subfloor. The most forward section is located and secured to the frame with vise grips. The second subfloor section from the front is then aligned with the front subfloor section. It is secured with two forward fasteners, one roadside and one curbside. Once secured, the second section from the front becomes the index section for all subfloor sections, forward and aft. This may not make sense, but will hopefully become clear in the upcoming log entries.

The subfloor will be secured using 1/4-20 x 1-1/4" self-tapping countersink fasteners. These fasteners are identical to original, except the heads are Torx rather than Phillips. The fasteners have a phosphate and oil coating, which should help lubricate while cutting threads and give some measure of corrosion protection. A #6 drill is used for the pilot hole.
